Leadership  is   Hallmark  at  Troop  141

Adult leaders are volunteers and meet or exceed BSA training requirements.
Along with our diverse backgrounds, we include experience in our Scouting program.
We are chartered by The Parents of Troop 141, a non-profit organization.
Scoutmaster Joe Maez has seen his son Eagle-out of our troop, and yet continues his volunteer service with our boys. He has held many positions at Lucky Baldwin, most recently as the District Commissioner. Joe holds a Master of Commissioner Science degree and is a recipient of the Commissioner's Key. A former Cubmaster at Pack 136, Joe has also been recognized with the District Award of Merit, the Baden-Powell Award, and the Silver Beaver. Joe has attended National Camp School, and is a Shooting Sports Director.

Committee Chairman Dean Bisterfeldt doubles as our co-Scoutmaster. He's proudly seen his two sons Eagle-out of our troop. A retired police officer and former Olympic swimmer, Dean has completed Wood Badge and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. He has earned his Doctorate of Commissioner Science, and is a recipient of both the Arrowhead Honor and the Commissioner's Key. Dean was recently decorated with the Silver Beaver Award. He has attended National Camp School, and is a Shooting Sports Director.

Assistant Scoutmaster Jim Oyama does double-duty as a Scout parent a Scout leader. His boys have inspired him to serve as Lucky Baldwin District's Programs Chairperson. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow, and is an active Merit Badge Counselor. A former Cubmaster at Pack 107, Jim recently received high honors with the District's Award of Merit and the Council's Silver Beaver Award. His son Kyle has attained the rank of Eagle.

Charter Organization Representative Alex Vazquez is also an Assistant Scoutmaster. His community involvement has garnered the support of the Monrovia United Methodist Church. A practical outdoorsman, Alex is our Scribe and is a Merit Badge Counselor.

Assistant Scoutmaster DJ Endriga was himself an active Scout in his youth. He was Cubmaster at Pack 333, and lends his time at various events our District hosts. He's our Unit Popcorn Kernel, and serves as Advancement Chair. DJ is a Merit Badge Counselor. His son Matthew has attained the rank of Eagle.

Many thanks to former Scoutmaster Louie Funaro and former Assistant Scoutmaster Mario Quezada. These leaders continue to advise the Troop. Louie led the Troop for 15 years, and was honored with the coveted Baden-Powell Award in 2009. Mario was instrumental in our transition and incorporation as a Charter Organization, with the creation of The Parents of Troop 141.

Assistant Scoutmasters play an important role as mentors. Leaders in our Troop play an active role and are required to complete all mandated training, including Youth Protection Training. While the boys learn to lead the troop, the adult leaders are on hand for consultation, guidance, and evaluation. Parents who are not trained as Assistant Scoutmasters are involved in other ways, and are encouraged to participate in meetings, outings, and all troop events. Our leaders are living examples of the Scout Oath and Law, in the hopes that the boys learn to live these principles at home, in school, and in the community.

Scouts receive Leadership Training as Assistant Patrol Leaders, Patrol Leaders, and Senior Patrol Leaders. All scouts are encouraged to take classes at Council Sponsored Leadership workshops, as well as a week-long Oakbadge Leadership camp in Big Bear. Over the years some of our Scouts have become Leadership Trainers themselves at both Oakbadge and the High Adventure Backpacking Trek at Philmont.
